What this site is
Accounting Tested compares accounting software for freelancers and one-person businesses in the United States. We run the same made-up month of books in each tool and report what happened.

How the tests work
We made up one month for a one-person web design business. We ran the same six tasks in each tool: set up the business, create invoices, record expenses, import and match a bank statement, check a partial payment and send a reminder, and run a profit and loss report. We checked each report against an answer key worked out from the test files.
An AI assistant carried out the tasks in our own accounts. A person did the sign-ups and logins and approved every email and download. The full method, the six tasks, the answer key and the plan each tool ran on are on How we test.
